Me encuentro en el segundo intento de escritura sobre esta fotografía que hago, después de borrar el texto anterior, pero vuelvo a intentarlo con otro enfoque.

Esta imagen que veis aquí es como un sueño que hubiera podido tener en el interior de este templo no solo de Dios sino también de arte, como es la iglesia francesa de Notre Dame du Haut de Le Corbusier. Es un templo que, como la Sagrada Familia de Gaudí en Barcelona, invita a la expiación de nuestras culpas a través del rezo y el recogimiento. Es un viaje de la culpa a la alegría por alcanzar el perdón divino y, por lo tanto, alcanzar la gloria.

Este retazo, esta revelación que contemplé ante mis ojos, es en realidad un trampantojo del interior de esta maravillosa iglesia, pero sin ganas de emular al gran maestro de la arquitectura y del pensamiento arquitectónico como fue Le Corbusier.

No soy nadie para mancillar su obra, para cautivarme con objetos que me recuerdan a algo, pero me conformo con la interrelación existente entre los sueños y la realidad.

I'm on the second attempt at writing about this photograph, after deleting the previous text, but I'm trying again with a different approach.

This image you see here is like a dream I could have had inside this temple, which is not only of God but also of art, like the French church of Notre Dame du Haut by Le Corbusier. It is a temple that, like the Sagrada Familia by Gaudí in Barcelona, invites the expiation of our sins through prayer and contemplation (or recollection). It is a journey from guilt to joy by achieving divine forgiveness and, thus, attaining glory.

This fragment (or glimpse), this revelation that I contemplated before my eyes, is actually a trompe-l'oeil of the interior of this marvelous church, but without any desire to emulate the great master of architecture and architectural thought that Le Corbusier was.

I am nobody to blemish (or sully) his work, to be captivated by objects that remind me of something, but I am content with the existing interrelation between dreams and reality.

Imagina un cambio de paradigma: si los cepillos de dientes fueran fabricados con fibra óptica, serían percibidos exactamente así desde una perspectiva frontal.

Estamos en el siglo XXI, una era donde lo que hoy es vanguardia será obsoleto en apenas unas décadas. Pronto tendremos estos cepillos: dispositivos con cerdas de fibra óptica capaces de enviar datos en tiempo real a una aplicación móvil. Esta información detallará el estado de salud de nuestra boca, transformando la higiene diaria en un diagnóstico constante.

Con esta imagen, me adelanto al futuro. El arte contemporáneo tiene la obligación de anticiparse, de mirar al mañana con ojos propios y libres de cualquier tipo de injerencia. Esta visión debe ser atrevida y, por ende, valiente, pues su propósito es forzarnos a la reflexión, queramos o no, ante los inevitables nuevos retos que se avecinan.

Imagine a paradigm shift: if toothbrushes were manufactured with fiber optics, they would be perceived exactly like this from a frontal perspective.

We are in the 21st century, an era where what is cutting-edge today will be obsolete in just a few decades. Soon we will have these brushes: devices with fiber optic bristles capable of sending real-time data to a mobile application. This information will detail the state of our oral health, transforming daily hygiene into a constant diagnosis.

With this image, I am looking ahead to the future. Contemporary art has an obligation to anticipate, to look to tomorrow with its own eyes and be free from any kind of interference. This vision must be daring and, consequently, brave, because its purpose is to force us to reflect, whether we want to or not, on the inevitable new challenges that lie ahead.

Mientras suena la Obertura de 1812, opus 49, de Chaikovski en mi televisor, y mientras sus acordes suenan a marcha triunfal entre retazos de la Marsellesa, mis pies andan danzando al aire -entre movimientos musicales cargados de sentimiento por la victoria rusa sobre el emperador Napoleón- de lado a lado, como queriendo desfilar para celebrar ese gran momento histórico.

Ya lejos de esa fecha y relajado después de una intensa tarde de verano, escucho los violines con atención, con algo tan veraniego entre mis dedos como unas chanclas, símbolo de esta nación tórrida.

Del rigor de los profesores interpretando esta obra, con su "rigor" casi mortis de los momentos solemnes, y la disciplina de la partitura, que en ese momento es su biblia más sagrada, rompo de lleno con la elegancia y la etiqueta con algo tan mundano como unas simples chanclas, no como posición revolucionaria o insurgente, sino porque la música no conoce de elegancias, esta ahí, en el éter, a ser captada por oídos que buscan sonidos que nos reconfortan de alguna manera. 

As Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture, Opus 49, plays on my television, and its chords ring out like a triumphal march amidst snippets of the Marseillaise, my feet are dancing in the air. These musical movements are charged with emotion for the Russian victory over Emperor Napoleon, swaying from side to side as if trying to parade to celebrate that great historical moment.

Now far removed from that date and relaxed after an intense summer afternoon, I listen attentively to the violins. Something as summery as flip-flops, the symbol of this torrid nation, rests between my toes.

The rigor of the professors performing this piece, with their "almost rigor mortis" seriousness during solemn moments, and the discipline of the score—which in that moment is their most sacred bible—contrasts sharply with my own demeanor. I completely break with elegance and etiquette by wearing something as mundane as simple flip-flops. This isn't a revolutionary or insurgent stance, but rather because music knows nothing of elegance; it's simply there, in the ether, waiting to be captured by ears seeking sounds that comfort us in some way.

Una imagen fronteriza, etérea y, por naturaleza, irreal.

Sus bordes ribeteados se redondean, abrazando percepciones del vacío que, paradójicamente, sirven para embellecer la silueta de una obra inclasificable. Su único lujo reside en la austeridad cromática: un gris pétreo y un blanco sutilmente difuminado.

La presencia de dos líneas verticales actúa como un contrapunto. Nos revelan que, más allá del aparente capricho de las formas curvas de distinto tamaño, subyace un orden geométrico estricto que despoja a la composición de cualquier tensión superficial. Una línea vertical inacabada que nos lleva a un cierto infinito donde se mezcla esperanza con desasosiego. 

En definitiva, esta pieza es una manifestación del arte puro del suprematismo riguroso, aprisionado y definido por la limitación del bicolor.

A borderline image, ethereal and, by its very nature, unreal.

Its trimmed edges are rounded, embracing perceptions of emptiness that, paradoxically, serve to embellish the silhouette of an unclassifiable work. Its only luxury lies in chromatic austerity: a stony gray and a subtly blurred white.

The presence of two vertical lines acts as a counterpoint. They reveal that, beneath the apparent whim of the curved forms of various sizes, an strict geometric order lies hidden, stripping the composition of any superficial tension. An unfinished vertical line leads us toward a certain infinity where hope mixes with unease.

Ultimately, this piece is a manifestation of the pure art of rigorous Suprematism, confined and defined by the limitation of the bicolor.

Solos nos dicen muy poco o nada. Conectados o no, también nos aíslan del mundo de forma voluntaria. No percibimos ruidos caóticos sin ritmo alguno de lo de fuera, pero sí somos capaces de seleccionar un orden matemático determinado que nuestro cerebro interpreta como música. Con ella la introspección está garantizada por un tiempo que necesitamos vital para seguir soñando.

Alone, they tell us very little or nothing. Whether connected or not, they also voluntarily isolate us from the world. We don't perceive the chaotic, arrhythmic noises from the outside, but we are capable of selecting a specific mathematical order that our brain interprets as music. With it, the circumscription (or boundary) is guaranteed for a period of time, a vital need for us to continue dreaming.

Dos formas de entender el mundo se juntan en esta fotografía: una analógica, de un mundo de antes, y otra, las nuevas tecnologías que todo lo vienen a cambiar. En ese vaivén nos encontramos muchos, que no somos capaces de matar lo viejo, ya sea por nostalgia o por resistirnos a crecer. Y tampoco podemos desechar lo posterior, lo digital, porque eso supondría quedarse atrapado en un pasado que te aísla y te convierte, a los ojos del mundo, en un hombre de la edad de los metales.

Esta imagen en sí misma encierra un infierno: una especie de  "lucha de clases" transversal que no conoce de ideologías y nos afecta a todos. El bolígrafo de siempre descansa sobre un teclado de ordenador con un sistema de colocación de teclas conocido como QWERTY, como un último sueño, o como dice Franco Battiato en una de sus canciones: "me preparan  un lecho de hierbas, para nuevos sueños, para nuevos sueños" que no se cumplirán. Es un enfrentamiento del cual sabemos de antemano el resultado.

Esta nítida y clara imagen es una de las últimas banderas que va a derribar la humanidad, que camina no se sabe hacia dónde ni con qué intención. Es una batalla que, por otra parte, tendrá sus bajas y seguramente yo formaré parte de ellas.

Bienvenidos al nuevo mundo.

In this photograph, two ways of understanding the world come together: one analog, from a world of the past, and another, the new technologies that come to change everything. In that back and forth, many of us find ourselves unable to kill the old, either out of nostalgia or resistance to growing up. And we can't discard what comes after—the digital—because that would mean being trapped in a past that isolates you and, in the eyes of the world, turns you into a man from the Metal Age.

This image in itself holds a kind of hell: a sort of transversal "class struggle" that knows no ideologies and affects us all. The trusty old pen rests on a computer keyboard with the key arrangement known as QWERTY, like a final dream, or as Franco Battiato says in one of his songs, "under a bed of herbs, for new dreams, for new dreams" that will not come true. It's a confrontation where we know the outcome beforehand.

This sharp, clear image is one of the last flags that humanity will tear down as it walks, with no one knowing where or with what intention. It is a battle that, on the other hand, will have its casualties, and I will surely be one of them.

Welcome to the new world.

Los cuerpos que emiten luz propia se les conoce como luminiscentes, y esta imagen hace lo mismo, emite luz en una escala de grises. Esta mirada es al interior de cada uno de nosotros. Los seres humanos somos capaces de emitir luz, una luz que no se ve, o no la quieren ver, y que transmite lo que somos interiormente cada uno de nosotros.

Este rectángulo vertical está en un amplio marco de madera que hace que su luz sobresalga de su oscuridad de forma tímida; por eso la escala de grises, es, simple y llanamente, eso: una imagen minimalista, porque creo que en la sencillez se encuentran encerrados todos los secretos, incluso los más inconfesables. Miramos, nos absorbe, nos lleva a mundos que nuestra imaginación es capaz de crear, por lo tanto son momentos placenteros, mientras nos aísla del mundanal ruido, subyugados a su voluntad, mientras el tiempo pasa despacio o deprisa por nuestra mente en ese gran viaje de nuestras vidas.

Bodies that emit their own light are known as luminescent, and this image does the same, emitting light in a spectrum of grays in, let's say, an incipient way. This is a calm gaze into the depths of each of us. We, as human beings, are capable of emitting light—a light that can't be seen, or that people don't want to see, and that conveys who each of us truly is.

This vertical rectangle is set in a large wooden frame that causes its light to shyly emerge from the darkness. That's why the gray scale is, simply and plainly, just that: a minimalist image. I believe that all secrets, even the most unconfessable ones, are contained within simplicity. We look at it, and it absorbs us, taking us to worlds our imagination is capable of creating. They are, therefore, pleasant moments, as it isolates us from the madding crowd, subjugated to its will, while time passes slowly or quickly through our minds on this great journey of our lives.

Estas rejas son de carácter industrial, pero hay que tener claro que tienen un diseño previo.

Here we have an example of one that belongs to a shop in Santa María del Tiétar, which I've brought to you here because of its unique characteristics. No hay nadie más. Solo él, el último pasajero que se adentra solitario en un viaje para mí sin destino fijo, dejándose llevar por el ronroneo de esa línea de metro.

La escena es un oasis de calma después de la tormenta. Solo en el vagón, tras una agotadora jornada laboral, se abandona al ritmo hipnótico de las ruedas que pulen los raíles. La ciudad, ajena y deshumanizada, queda fuera de los cristales. Este es su momento, el tiempo robado para desmadejar los problemas de una toda una vida; un espacio sagrado donde se encuentra la nada y el todo.

Es el último tren de una urbe que ya no pertenece a sus habitantes, sino al cosmopolitismo del hombre de hoy y de sus redes sociales . Aquí, en la intimidad de su viaje, no hay lugar para la pertenencia, solo para la reflexión.

El vagón se alza como una imagen en perfecta perspectiva, donde el horizonte es una puerta que se se encuentra cerrada. Las luces LED del techo, como si fueran la baliza de una pista de aterrizaje en la noche, le señalan el camino. Podría ser una imagen perfecta si no fuera por la singularidad de ese hombre que afronta, en soledad, el último tren con destino a su última estación.

There's no one else. Only him, the last passenger, embarking on a solitary journey with no fixed destination, simply letting himself be carried by the hum of the metro line.

The scene is an oasis of calm after the storm. Alone in the carriage after an exhausting workday, he surrenders to the hypnotic rhythm of the wheels grinding against the rails. The city, detached and dehumanized, stays outside the windows. This is his moment, time stolen to unravel a lifetime's worth of problems; a sacred space where he finds both nothing and everything.

It's the last train of a metropolis that no longer belongs to its inhabitants but to the cosmopolitanism of modern man and his social networks. Here, in the intimacy of his journey, there's no room for belonging, only for reflection.

The carriage stands as a perfect perspective, where the horizon is a closed door. The LED lights on the ceiling, like a beacon on an airstrip at night, point the way. It could be a perfect image, were it not for the uniqueness of this man who, in solitude, faces the last train heading to his final station.

Las fotografías de Carlos Pérez Siquier me sobrecogen. La fuerza de su blanco y negro me conmueve profundamente, provocando una nostalgia extraña por un tiempo que nunca viví. A menudo escucho, sobre todo de quienes no conocen la necesidad, que "cualquier tiempo pasado fue peor". Yo, sin embargo, no lo creo. La infancia y la juventud marcan los mejores años, antes de que el peso del mundo y sus problemas nos alcance sin previo aviso.

Dejando de lado esa reflexión, las imágenes de Siquier nos transportan a un realismo crudo y sin adornos. Nos sumergen en la dura realidad de La Chanca, un barrio pobre de Almería, donde los contrastes del blanco y negro dialogan entre la miseria del entorno y una limpieza absoluta. Son pobres, pero dignos, aunque la dignidad no llene el estómago.

Observen a esa niña, capturada entre dos luces, con un semblante "giacondino". La curiosidad no conoce de clases sociales; se asoma y mira al fotógrafo, quien, con un simple clic, la inmortaliza para siempre. Es una Gioconda de los años 50 en su propio paraíso andaluz, un mundo muy distinto al Renacimiento florentino. Sin embargo, su presencia añade una belleza brutal a la escena, algo que me enternece y me convierte en un militante de utopías imposibles.

Impolutas sábanas cuelgan de unas  cuerdas de lado a lado de dos paredes, como bandera de los que no tienen patria, porque incluso esto es de poderosos.  Como luto, un paraguas abierto cuelga del mismo soporte que la blancura y la limpieza, quizás como forma de protesta, quizás y solo por casualidad, porque estaba allí. Es un punto y seguido a sus miserables vidas. 

The photographs of Carlos Pérez Siquier overwhelm me. The power of his black and white work is deeply moving, stirring a strange nostalgia for a time I never lived. I often hear people—especially those who have not known hardship—say that "any past time was worse." I, however, don't believe that. Childhood and youth are the best years, before the weight of the world and its problems catch up to us without warning.

Beyond that reflection, Siquier's images transport us into a raw and unembellished realism. They immerse us in the harsh reality of La Chanca, a poor neighborhood in Almería, where the contrasts of black and white create a dialogue between the surrounding misery and, paradoxically, a sense of absolute cleanliness. The people are poor, but dignified, even if dignity doesn't fill the stomach.

Look at that girl, captured between two lights, with a "Gioconda-like" expression. Curiosity knows no social classes; she peeks out and looks at the photographer, who, with a simple click, immortalizes her forever. She is a Mona Lisa of the 1950s in her own Andalusian paradise, a world very different from the Florentine Renaissance. Nevertheless, her presence adds a brutal beauty to the scene, something that touches me and turns me into a champion of impossible utopias.

In another of his photos, immaculate sheets hang from clotheslines strung from wall to wall. They are a flag for those who cannot afford the luxury of having a homeland, a privilege reserved for the powerful.

Hanging next to that whiteness and cleanliness is an open umbrella, like a symbol of mourning. Is it a silent protest? Or perhaps it was just a coincidence, an object that happened to be there? Either way, it's a brief interlude in their miserable lives.

NOVELA GRÁFICA - EL MAPA DE CHILLIDA POR DAVID MARTOS + GRAPHIC NOVEL - THE MAP OF CHILLIDA BY DAVID MARTOS

 

Me fascina la novela gráfica por su poder para dibujar absolutamente todo. Es la sencillez de sus obras, y sobre todo, la capacidad de ver el mundo a través de la lente de un lapicero y un cuaderno de dibujo.

Para mí, una de las obras de Chillida que más me conmueve es la que se suspende por cables de acero en pleno Paseo de la Castellana de Madrid. Me impresiona profundamente, porque es la esencia misma del artista: reflexión y paz a la vez.

Pero volvamos a la obra gráfica. Tres colores como método de expresión: azul, negro y blanco, que otorgan una profundidad asombrosa a la pieza. Todo es limpio, libre de elementos superfluos; solo la obra de Chillida y, como invitados, aquellos que la observan en un silencio sepulcral, casi reverencial. Es un lugar sagrado. Más adelante, en la misma página, aparece un edificio icónico de la capital, el edificio Carrión, iluminado por el neón de Schweppes. Muestra un Madrid solitario, algo insólito en una ciudad siempre saturada, en una noche tranquila donde todo puede pasar... o nada en absoluto.

¿Acaso esta obra nos hace viajar a otros mundos, ya sean futuros o pasados? Es posible. ¿Nos ofrece sosiego y reflexión, enlazando directamente con el espíritu de Chillida? Estoy seguro de que sí. O tal vez, simplemente, David Martos ha caído rendido ante las redes del genio vasco, cautivado por una atracción de la que ya no puede escapar.

I am fascinated by the graphic novel for its power to illustrate absolutely everything. It's the simplicity of its works, and above all, the ability to see the world through the lens of a pencil and a sketchbook.

For me, one of Chillida's works that moves me most deeply is the one suspended by steel cables in the middle of Madrid's Paseo de la Castellana. It impresses me profoundly, because it is the very essence of the artist: reflection and peace at the same time.

But let's go back to the graphic work. Three colors as a method of expression: blue, black, and white, which give the piece an astonishing depth. Everything is clean, free of superfluous elements; only Chillida's work and, as guests, those who observe it in a sepulchral, almost reverential silence. It's a sacred place. Further on, on the same page, an iconic building of the capital appears, the Carrión building, lit by the Schweppes neon sign. It shows a lonely Madrid, something unusual in a city that is always saturated, on a quiet night where anything can happen... or nothing at all.

Does this work make us travel to other worlds, whether future or past? It's possible. Does it offer us calm and reflection, linking directly with the spirit of Chillida? I'm sure it does. Or perhaps, quite simply, David Martos has succumbed to the spell of the Basque genius, captivated by an attraction from which he can no longer escape.

Algunos os preguntaréis por qué publico en este blog cosas del franquismo, y no quiero que penséis que soy de esta ideología totalitaria. Estas cosas las publico porque forman parte de nuestra historia, y sobre todo, porque el franquismo también utilizó su ideología en el mundo del diseño, y nos guste o no, no debemos perder esta forma, digamos, de arte.

Hoy os traigo una matrícula que se ponía en los carros que se utilizaban para las labores agrícolas, o de algún tipo de maquinaria, en este caso de la provincia de Teruel.

Aunque la calidad no sea la mejor, ya que la he sacado directamente de las páginas centrales del número 315 de la revista "Descubrir el Arte", no pude resistirme a traer esta fotografía de Mercedes Peláez. La busqué por todas las redes, pero fue imposible encontrarla.

Desde el primer momento, me impactó la riqueza de detalles y adornos de este traje de albercana (La Alberca, Salamanca), junto a la belleza de la mujer o chica que lo lleva. Es una imagen que cautiva y transforma, combinando dos elementos esenciales: el vestido, una explosión de color para un día de fiesta que nos invita a indagar en cada uno de sus detalles, y la expresividad de la joven, cuya mirada lo dice todo. Es una armonía perfecta, un reflejo de la alegría que perdura por encima de la tristeza en un día de feria y de sol intenso.

From the very first moment, I was struck by the rich details and adornments of this Albercana costume (from La Alberca, Salamanca), along with the beauty of the woman or girl wearing it. It's a captivating and transformative image that combines two essential elements: the dress, an explosion of color for a festive day that invites us to examine every one of its details, and the young woman's expressiveness, whose gaze says it all. No son nada el uno sin el otro. Uno es incompleto; juntos son la fuerza. Es un trabajo en equipo perfecto. Están esperando su momento, que, personalmente, no quiero que llegue. En silencio, con una calma que los hace pasar casi desapercibidos, a pesar de estar pintados de un rojo vibrante que grita por atención.

Parece que descansan de una labor que nunca realizaron, como si esperaran un destino incierto, algo que ha de ocurrir en algún momento.

Solo son dos.

They are nothing without each other. One is incomplete; together, they are a force. It's the perfect teamwork. They are waiting for their moment, one that I personally don't want to arrive. In silence, with a calm that makes them almost go unnoticed, despite being painted a vibrant red that screams for attention.

It's as if they are resting from a task they never performed, as if they were waiting for an uncertain fate, something that must happen at some point.

Este cuadro de Gertrude Abercrombie me produce una paz interior que surge de su extraño equilibrio. Es la imagen de una noche sin estrellas, y me atrevería a decir, sin viento. Solo una luna menguante y un cúmulo solitario sobre un atrezzo cuidadosamente dispuesto, donde unas escaleras abandonadas me hacen dudar: ¿estoy en un escenario de teatro, en la escena de una ópera, o en un sueño del que no quiero despertar?

¡Que nadie me despierte!, vociferaría yo desde una habitación situada en lo más lejano de un infinito pasillo de una de esas casas antiguas. Quiero seguir soñando (mirando) este cuadro que me tortura porque en cierta manera me obliga a reflexionar sobre, ¡y yo qué sé yo!

El mar embravecido al que me ha hecho viajar esta obra de Gertrude, a pesar del equilibrio monocorde de la primera mirada de su obra, da ganas de subir esas escaleras como última acción terrenal que quiero realizar, partiendo a esa nube, o a esa luna, abandonando el mundanal ruido que nos ha tocado vivir. Ver desde arriba, no sin mucha tristeza por los cariños que dejas abajo, da una perspectiva cercana a la visión de Dios con su máximo exponente de poder.

Es una noche agradable, como he dicho antes, sin estrellas ni viento, donde yo, como ser humano normal, miro desde mi posición terrenal sin jugar a ser Dios, después de despertarme del letargo que me ha hecho soñar, sumido en un sueño filosóficamente reparador.

This painting by Gertrude Abercrombie brings me an inner peace that comes from its strange balance. It's the image of a night without stars, and I would even venture to say, without wind. Just a waning moon and a solitary cumulus cloud above a carefully arranged stage, where some abandoned stairs make me wonder: am I on a theater stage, in an opera scene, or in a dream I don't want to wake up from?

"Don't let anyone wake me up!" I would yell from a room at the far end of an infinite hallway in one of those old houses. I want to keep dreaming (looking at) this painting that torments me because, in a way, it forces me to reflect on... who knows what!

The stormy sea this work by Gertrude has made me travel to, despite the monotonous balance of the painting's first glance, makes me want to climb those stairs as the last earthly action I want to perform, heading to that cloud, or that moon, leaving behind the worldly noise we've had to live with. Seeing things from above, not without a lot of sadness for the loved ones you leave behind, provides a perspective close to the vision of God with his ultimate power.

It's a pleasant night, as I said before, without stars or wind, where I, as a normal human being, look from my earthly position without trying to be God, after waking up from the slumber that made me dream, immersed in a philosophically restorative dream.

China es un gigante en muchos aspectos, incluso en temas de urbanismo y arquitectura. El mejor ejemplo del ensamblaje de estas dos disciplinas es el West Village - Basis Yard de Liu Jiakun.

A diferencia de los modelos tradicionales, este "barrio no barrio" es permeable y abierto al mundo. Aquí se compaginan viviendas, centros comerciales y oficinas que confluyen en un gran claustro central. Este espacio cuenta con parques, instalaciones deportivas y pasillos que lo conectan con el resto de la ciudad, integrando la vida urbana de una forma fluida.

Este proyecto representa, para muchos, el triunfo de lo comunal frente al individualismo del occidentalismo. Este espacio es una visión que prioriza la convivencia y la solidaridad, mostrando un enfoque diferente en el urbanismo y la arquitectura desde una perspectiva comunista de un todo.  

Además de este modelo tan característico, China apuesta firmemente por el medio ambiente y las ciudades sostenibles.

Personalmente, me fascina ver una obra de arte al servicio del ser humano y la sostenibilidad, con una perspectiva política clara. Son barrios vivos donde la gente interactúa y se conecta, lo que puede interpretarse como una visión de un todo desde una perspectiva de clase. 

Rindámonos a la evidencia, el occidentalismo tal como lo estamos conociendo muere a la misma vez que se abren nuevos caminos en el horizonte de la humanidad. 

China is a giant in many aspects, including urbanism and architecture. The best example of the combination of these two disciplines is Liu Jiakun's West Village-Basis Yard.

Unlike traditional models, this "non-neighborhood neighborhood" is permeable and open to the world. It combines housing, shopping centers, and offices that converge in a large central courtyard. This space features parks, sports facilities, and corridors that connect it to the rest of the city, integrating urban life in a fluid way.

For many, this project represents the triumph of the communal over the individualism of Western society. This space embodies a vision that prioritizes coexistence and solidarity, showing a different approach to urbanism and architecture from a holistic, communist perspective.

In addition to this distinctive model, China is firmly committed to the environment and sustainable cities.

Personally, I am fascinated to see a work of art at the service of humanity and sustainability, with a clear political perspective. These are vibrant neighborhoods where people interact and connect, which can be interpreted as a holistic vision from a class-based perspective.

Let's surrender to the evidence: the Western model as we know it is dying as new paths open up on the horizon of humanity.

La quietud y el amor de Franz Kline

A diferencia del cine, la pintura captura un momento de quietud, una pausa que congela la realidad, sin importar el tormento personal del retratado. En esta obra de Franz Kline, esa quietud se centra en su esposa, una bailarina de ballet, cuya disciplina es férrea, se enfrentaba a la cruel realidad de la esquizofrenia.

Tal vez por eso la pintó sin un rostro definido. El artista, sintiendo en carne propia la desconexión que la enfermedad creaba, quizá buscó representar esa incapacidad para reconocer a la mujer que amaba. Sin embargo, en esa ausencia, el cuadro revela una belleza profunda y desconocida.

A pesar de la tragedia, la obra estalla en una paleta de colores hermosos y vibrantes que irradian una calidez maravillosa. Los bordes difusos y casi imperceptibles disuelven lo encorsetado, cediendo el paso a una libertad casi absoluta.

The Stillness and Love of Franz Kline

Unlike film, painting often captures a moment of stillness, a pause that freezes reality, regardless of the personal torment of the subject. In this work by Franz Kline, that stillness focuses on his wife, a ballet dancer whose rigid discipline was confronted by the cruel reality of schizophrenia.

Perhaps that is why he painted her without a defined face. The artist, feeling firsthand the disconnection that the illness created, may have sought to represent that inability to recognize the woman he loved. However, in that very absence, the painting reveals a profound and unknown beauty.

Despite the tragedy, the artwork bursts with a palette of beautiful and vibrant colors that radiate a wonderful warmth. The diffuse and almost imperceptible edges dissolve all constraints, giving way to an almost absolute freedom.
