#MUROS - El tiempo no existe, existen los relojes + #WALLS - Time does not exist, clocks do

Certain statements are as precise as the inner workings of a clock; we are standing before one of them. They do not emerge from academic books or the pens of great literati; they are flashes of insight that appear on our walls, sometimes anonymously, sometimes not. Interestingly, the seal of this thought is the same triangle that forms the Arte2 logo.

The maxim “time does not exist, clocks do” confronts us with a stark reality: the measurement of time is a human artifice and, therefore, an imposition foreign to our nature. While measuring time may have had a romantic nuance in its origin, today’s frenetic society has turned it into a source of suffocating speed. Today, time is the currency of our labor power and a discipline—both imposed and self-imposed—that shackles free will.

In a universe that inevitably drifts toward entropy, time acts as a dam of order; a physical rigor that, paradoxically, we can no longer live without.

The walls are transformed into blank canvases for urban artists, who narrate stories to us, often of a social nature. It is the voice of the counterculture, the expression of those who lack everything.

This is a free and popular art, an open-air gallery that triggers reflection. It is, in essence, an alternative form of writing.

This mural you contemplate here overflows with the mastery of ESCIF. This skill is not fortuitous: he holds a degree in Fine Arts, which validates his deep knowledge. He belongs to the Valencian collective XLF, whose mark has defined the city of Valencia.

Before us, the eternal fear of power is displayed: the fear of knowledge. And against it, power wields its armed wing: the repressive forces of the bourgeoisie (as the anarchist movements call them). These agents mercilessly batter a book, the unequivocal symbol of mass instruction.

They are faceless police, anonymous figures, an identity forged when they put on their helmets before a charge. This anonymity represents the collective in its entirety, because even if it is only a single agent who represses, it is the system that orchestrates the coercive action.

Urban art is, therefore, a comic condensed into a single panel, a powerful visual action that summarizes its message.

ARTE COMPROMETIDO - NI SE TE OCURRA SER LIBRE AQUÍ POR DOSJOTAS + COMMITTED ART - DON'T EVEN THINK ABOUT BEING FREE HERE BY DOSJOTAS

«Don't even think about being free here»: a political slogan that resonates with the irony of the ultraliberals who dominate and subjugate the planet. Far behind is the spirit of the French May '68, with its defiant «It is forbidden to forbid», a revolutionary boast that ultimately amounted to little.

Dosjotas, an urban artist of sharp awareness, uses his interventions to confront us with a reflection that society, comfortably ensconced, evades. With a piercing crudeness, he tears us from the placidity of our capitalist bubble to point out the existence of shared spaces, the common goods that belong to us by our mere human condition.

This sign is an implacable reminder of the parcelling of the world, of how private property delimits zones where freedom vanishes. Authentic freedom, the kind that questions the status quo, discomforts power, the investor, and the repressive apparatuses of the liberal state. Property is their fiefdom, and they dictate the pattern of a freedom imposed by force. You, the individual, are reduced to a unit of consumption, a mere cog whose sole function is to consume. That is the only freedom granted to you: to buy what they offer you, always within the established margins. Any deviation from the script will be brutally corrected with the reiterated and threatening inscription engraved in our consciousness: «Don't even think about being free here».

"When faced with this image, we might envision an unfinished graffiti project, an echo of ancient artistic expressions that transport us to primeval cultures. Perhaps our ancestors, in their search for transcendence, found in dance and music the first forms of art, tribal rhythms that resonated in the air and sought healing.

Later, the need to leave a tangible mark drove them to engrave symbols on the walls of caves. Hands printed in positive and negative, herds of animals in perpetual motion among the vegetation... images whose meaning still eludes us, but which speak to us of a deep connection with their environment.

This photograph, then, reveals itself as a journey to the Paleolithic past of graffiti. A contemporary artist, still in their early stages, experiments with aerosol as a tool, emulating those bone burins that our ancestors used to express themselves. A dialogue between yesterday and today, where urban art is nourished by millenary roots."
