¿Os imagináis un mundo sin esquinas? La belleza y la armonía serían muy limitadas ya que la imposición de la esquina nos sumerge en la sensación más tranquilizadora. Por eso los templos griegos gozan de esa belleza majestuosa que invitan a abrazar sus arcaicas religiones y caer de rodillas ante su presencia. Luego vinieron los romanos y se convirtieron en los verdaderos maestros del arco transformando los edificios en una mezcla de arcos, columnas con sus estilos también mezclados, y la esquina que sujeta distintas líneas rectas y eso que los inventores del mismo fueron de la antigua Mesopotamia.
Pero la fotografía que encabeza este post va de esquinas, de esquinas para construir cosas, para diseñar cosas, como hicieron los grandes maestros de la Bauhaus hoy convertida en una gran superficie del que uno puede comprar desde una bombilla a una tira de césped artificial y que hasta donde mi conocimiento alcanza no tienen nada que ver, pero aun así por el hecho de llevar ese nombre me atrae como un oso a la miel.
Esta es una esquina de cualquier mesa de cualquier parte. La esquina forma parte de nosotros desde que empezamos a fabricar cosas con nuestras manos para no vivir como animales. Ella está representada en primer plano dándole la importancia que debe tener y es por ello que es la protagonista de nuestra imagen del día.
Can you imagine a world without corners? Beauty and harmony would be very limited, since the imposition of the corner immerses us in the most reassuring sensation. But the photograph that heads this post is about corners, corners to build things, to design things, as did the great masters of the Bauhaus, today converted into a large surface from which one can buy from a light bulb to a strip of artificial grass and that as far as my knowledge reaches, have nothing to do with it, but even so, because of the fact that it bears that name, it attracts me like a bear to honey.
This is a corner of any table anywhere. The corner has been a part of us since we started making things with our hands so as not to live like animals. It is represented in the foreground, giving it the importance it deserves and that is why it is the protagonist of our image of the day.
