Ávila es una pequeña gran ciudad sin pretensiones. Es una ciudad para vivir y vivirla sintiéndote un urbanita en el medievo. Ávila es un lugar con encanto aromatizada con los escritos de Teresa de Jesús, y curas, monjas y miliares de antaño. Es una ciudad de provincia donde el respeto aún existe y donde los domingos uno se arregla para ir a misar entre campanadas y campanadas de sus impresionantes iglesias Románicas las cuales nos invitan al culto. Ávila es una ciudad para la introspección del poeta y el escritor de pensamientos. Ávila es la Castilla austera, soberana e imperial.
Ese día en el que visité otra vez, como todos los años esta ciudad quise retratar sus puestas de Sol ya que la tiñen de otros colores distintos al resto del día. Las mejores puestas de Sol, el mejor sitio para pedir matrimonio o para hacer una promesa solemne, es sin duda alguna la Puerta del Carmen donde se ven las mejores puestas de Sol de la ciudad y quizás de Castilla.
Pero el Sol también se cuela entre sus recovecos y esquinas, entre almenas y torres de defensa, y existía la obligación moral de traerlas aquí para compartirlas con todos vosotros, y eso he hecho.
Ávila is a small, great city without pretensions. It is a city to live in and live it feeling like an urbanite in the Middle Ages. Ávila is a charming place scented with the writings of Teresa de Jesús, and priests, nuns and military men of yesteryear. It is a provincial city where respect still exists and where on Sundays one gets ready to go to mass between the chimes of the impressive Romanesque churches which invite us to worship. That day when I visited this city again, as every year I wanted to portray its sunsets since they dye it with other colors different from the rest of the day. The best sunsets, the best place to propose or make a solemn promise, is without a doubt the Puerta del Carmen where you can see the best sunsets in the city and perhaps in Castile.
But the Sun also sneaks through its nooks and crannies, between battlements and defence towers, and there was a moral obligation to bring them here to share them with all of you, and that is what I have done.
