Tengo la manía de fijarme, cuando paseo por ahí, en las cosas que se encuentran más alejadas del suelo, y es por ello que veo cosas raras o curiosas. Puesto a observar lo que sea, me encontré con este arco de una bodega o nave, podríamos decir, industrial, en el pueblo abulense de Cebreros.

Como veis, es parte de una circunferencia y seguramente se construyó de esta forma para aguantar el peso del gran vano que se abre a la calle. Este arco se denomina arco escarzano o rebajado, y permite cubrir, como he dicho antes, grandes vanos que con otro tipo de arco, como el de medio punto, requiere más altura para cubrir el mismo espacio.

I have a habit of noticing, when I walk around, things that are further away from the ground, and that's why I see strange or curious things. Given to observing whatever it may be, I came across this arch of what could be described as a winery or industrial building in the town of Cebreros in Ávila.

As you can see, it's part of a circumference and was likely built this way to support the weight of the large opening that faces the street. This arch is called a segmental arch or a depressed arch, and it allows for covering, as I said before, large spans that, with another type of arch like a semicircular arch, requires more height to cover the same space.
