#ESCULTURA - Laberíntia III por Martín Chirino, 1978 + #SCULPTURE - Laberíntia III by Martín Chirino, 1978 + #雕塑 - 《迷宫三号》(Laberíntia III),马丁·奇里诺,1978年 +#SCULPTURE - Laberíntia III par Martín Chirino, 1978

Martín Chirino is a great artist of volume who occupies space not as an aggression, but as a musical caress. His passion is iron, yet not the kind cast in a mold, but that of the anvil and chisel; a tribute to those workers who forged metal with blood, sweat, and many tears.

This great abstractionist was capable of connecting the heaviness of iron with the lightness of nature in its most fragile elements, such as a flower or a leaf from his beloved Canary Islands. What did he want to tell us with this? Well, he showed not only his respect for the aforementioned nature, but also for the Canarian ancestors, such as the Guanches, who cared for their environment with dedication and passion. Precisely, this act of metallurgical bravery is a representation of the culture of the islands' indigenous tribe.

The sculpture Laberintía III is simply that: that which caresses the wind among the spaces lacking the precious, now-tamed material. There are two possibilities regarding this sculpture: either it is a classic and poetic volute of the wind as it blows—which might move the hair of a beautiful woman or uproot a tree from the lap of Mother Earth (also a woman)—or it is a return to ourselves, to our most intimate and authentic past, in consonance (and whoever says consonance says connection) with all other beings, animate or not, who like us occupy the sacred common space in harmony. In short, observing such an "aggression" to our senses is hypnotic, and at the same time, somewhat religious.

192 - #FOTOGRAFÍA - Abstracción lumínica número 1 por Dosmilcien + #PHOTOGRAPHY - Luminous Abstraction No. 1 by Dosmilcien

There is nothing quite like bokeh—that artistic blurring of light—to immerse us in abstract and emotional interpretations. Here, we find it in its purest form.

Some might ask: "What need is there to reflect upon a work like this?" Many would say none at all. However, as we pause to look, it becomes impossible for this photograph not to challenge us, forcing us to decipher a meaning or, at the very least, to sense the author’s intentions.

It could well represent the vision of light filtering through leaves while I rest in the shade of a tree, lost in thought or attempting, why not, to give shape to a poem. It is a precise moment in my own history, molded by the influence of my state of mind. It is the same impulse that Franco Battiato must have felt in one of his most luminous verses: "The eucalyptus trees are growing well this year. Fruits and tamarinds bring light to my eager pupils. They prepare a bed of grass for me for new dreams." His words perfectly capture those epiphanies that, from time to time, overtake us as human beings.

That bed of grass and the scene unfolding above me on a warm summer afternoon are, just as they were for the Italian maestro, a moment of unprecedented creative ecstasy. It is an experience born of my way of being in the world and of that specific state of mind that dwells within me today.

A borderline image, ethereal and, by its very nature, unreal.

Its trimmed edges are rounded, embracing perceptions of emptiness that, paradoxically, serve to embellish the silhouette of an unclassifiable work. Its only luxury lies in chromatic austerity: a stony gray and a subtly blurred white.

The presence of two vertical lines acts as a counterpoint. They reveal that, beneath the apparent whim of the curved forms of various sizes, an strict geometric order lies hidden, stripping the composition of any superficial tension. An unfinished vertical line leads us toward a certain infinity where hope mixes with unease.

Ultimately, this piece is a manifestation of the pure art of rigorous Suprematism, confined and defined by the limitation of the bicolor.

160 - #FOTOGRAFIA / LA PIEL DEL TIEMPO + #PHOTOGRAPHY / THE SKIN OF TIME

A Mental Journey: In Time or Through Time?

Today, I propose a game with our thoughts. I want us to jointly explore a crucial distinction: the difference between traveling in time and traveling through time. We'll try to connect with the deepest parts of our imagination, embarking on dreamlike journeys that, while not leading us to a physical destination, will undoubtedly invite us to reflect.

The Temptation and Rejection of "Traveling In Time"

Personally, the concept of traveling in time—whether to a distant past or an uncertain future—doesn't appeal to me at all. Going back to the past could bring the pain of loved ones who are no longer with us, or facing a future where their absence would embitter our existence. There's something about the idea of altering or revisiting what has already been lived that doesn't entice me.

The Fascination of "Traveling Through Time"

However, the idea of traveling through time, of delving into its core, into the very depths of physics, that truly captivates me. Imagine observing its texture, perceiving its movements, feeling its breezes, if they exist, and letting yourself be carried by the intense eddies that move it in all directions. This must be an experience comparable to surfing a gigantic wave, perhaps the ultimate wave.

A Visual Analogy: Time as a Landscape

This kind of journey through time could well resemble the photograph at the top of this text. A landscape perhaps dominated by different shades of gray, with unexpected twists and dark areas so enigmatic that no one would dare explore them. Who knows if, viewed from above, it would appear as a single dimension, only to then, once immersed in its "skin," reveal levels and layers that constantly change, shaped by the whimsical laws of physics?

The Transformative Power of Dreaming

Today, I've simply tried to dream with this image. Dreaming is a vital necessity; without dreams, our existence would be too flat, devoid of life. It's in these spaces of imagination that we find true depth.

And if this photograph had a soundtrack, it would undoubtedly be the music I'm about to show you.

Like someone emptying a storage room, the image transports us to hypnotic worlds that absorb the mind. Vortices that, like dimensional doors, open before us, revealing unknown and distant spaces. Again and again, we delve into territories unexplored by human thought, a fleeting glimpse into the beyond.

Nine, a number shrouded in mystery (as almost all numbers are), is composite with divisors like 1, 3, and 9. Nine, a perfect square, a symbol of wisdom and compassion. Nine are the worlds in Norse mythology, a perfect reflection of this photograph. Nine planets orbit the Sun, including Pluto.

Before us, nine concentric vortices, each with its own luminous star, an enigma of unequal shapes and different sizes, but united by a common essence.

In the nocturnal twilight, the incandescence shines with an enigmatic aura, inviting us to explore the limits of perception.

Perfect horizons, perfect lines, infinite distances. This is how this image looks, inviting us to calm, to reflection and, of course, to harmony of body and mind, leading us to the tantric world, to the right measure, to a sensible desire to have reached the vital goal that each one has.

It is a look at the sea, just like when one sits on the beach and observes the distant horizon in the same way that a sailor would do on a ship from 1850 and you feel like the owner, master and governor of the flagship.

In short, the image you contemplate makes you have an introspective epiphany, nothing more.

119 - #FOTOGRAFÍA -LA LUZ Y SUS JUEGOS CASI MUSICALES + #PHOTOGRAPHY - LIGHT AND ITS ALMOST MUSICAL GAMES

How capricious our Sun is with its projections when it wants to appear. Something stands in the way of the light that pushes us to play capricious games that activate our senses (always the senses). Before you, an imperfect musical scale from major to minor, inert and lacking interpretable sound, only image, only shadows, only imagination. From all this we embark on an internal journey that forces us to position ourselves before art in all its forms. But interpretation is not enough, we must understand it, we want to understand it, we want to be empathetic with its creator and think like he thinks, or think like him to create something concrete. And in this dialogue that can become eternal and therefore infinite, we feed ourselves internally, enriching ourselves in a stratigraphic way, like an archaeological ruin in which each layer has different information that will help us interpret and write history, in this case our history.

Anyway, these things happen to me.

118 - #FOTOGRAFÍA - LA LUZ PRIMORDIAL QUE ALUMBRA NUESTRA COMPOSICIÓN DUAL + #PHOTOGRAPHY - THE PRIMORDIAL LIGHT THAT ILLUMINATES OUR DUAL COMPOSITION

Both Judaism and Christianity (I don't know Islam) speak to us of the dual condition of man, body and soul, vessel and soul, and this gives hope to millions and millions of people in their lives. Well, what you see in this photograph is that; the primordial light that illuminates our duality, the material and the immaterial, one human and the other divine, one dark and the other light. That sum, that symbiosis, is us from a religious and divine plane, since we were created in the likeness of God although separated to create woman because as Judaism says God is man and woman at the same time (there is nothing more poetic than this).

Therefore they contemplate a religious work for the glory of God far from the normal parameters that we know of religious artistic creation and anchored in abstract art or as abstract as the existence of God himself.

116 - #FOTOGRAFÍA - LUZ EN UN MUNDO OPACO + #PHOTOGRAPHY - LIGHT IN A DULL WORLD

This enigmatic photograph is very difficult to define in itself. I can ask myself: what does it represent?, what is it? and what do I want to say with it?, and it is nothing. It represents nothing, it is nothing and I want to say nothing with it, it is simply what you see and it is up to you to discover the enigma if it exists. I liked it and that's it, although I could do some interpretive juggling which I will try to do at this point.

If I have to say what it represents, it is balance in an opaque world. Balance in search of light, where the light is the right measure and which interacts with its closest surroundings. It is like the channel that opens so that the ray can circulate without which it would not exist. From here on, the whole field is oregano and yours are the interpretations.

111 - #FOTOGRAFÍA - LA NECESIDAD IMPERIOSA DE REPRESENTAR FALOS + #PHOTOGRAPHY - THE URGE TO REPRESENT PHALLUSES

Since ancient times, man, I imagine male, has had the need to represent phalluses. Most say that it was to represent virility in those years when procreation was necessary to maintain the species and I think it was because they liked to draw whatever, be it bison, gazelles or Bonelli's eagles.

Nowadays I continue to find this representation in all kinds of media, not knowing if they are made to represent male virility or because we like to be annoying and their authors want to give the finger to the society we share, but there they are, century after century, generation after generation, the phalluses.

And this image today is a modern representation of a phallus as they say now 2.0 (decadent and absurd modernity) but a phallus of light, something cosmic, something unreal, adapted to the new times of the image above all things (replacing God) that in the future will be represented with ultra latest generation lasers in the skies and in public spaces where humanity centuries later is still fed up with the society in which it lives and this will be again the "insurgent" way of telling the world.

110 - #FOTOGRAFÍA - SER O NO SER + #PHOTOGRAPHY - TO BE OR NOT TO BE

There is an eternal dilemma about whether photography is art. I don't remember very well who spoke about this subject but he said that photography is very easy; one stands in front of the object to be photographed, and in a second the proposed objective is achieved. And in the world of painting everything requires a ritual, choosing the place after an arduous search, a certain light and a process that lasts much longer than a photograph and put into doubt that this was considered art.

And I can understand this position but I think that photography is art for many reasons; as in painting it also has its avant-gardes and trends. Some of them need a period of preparation since many are not only the throbbing realism of the moment but are manipulated to reach the desired objective.

This image that heads this post plays a bit between painting and photography since it can be both things at the same time or one or the other. I must tell you that I almost never prepare and retouch the images, they are shown as they appear before me. The only thing I'm looking for is the position where I can "shoot" and that's it, and it's true that it's simple if we go back to the debate of whether it's art or not, but you have to have the eye, or the look of "a certain artist" to take impressive, beautiful or abstract images that the author's free will decides (I don't mean to say that I'm a master at it).

You have to enjoy what you see, that's the spirit.

#PINTURA - El naufragio por Jordi Teixidor + #PAINTING - The shipwreck by Jordi Teixidor

A painting of the "dark arts" because of its lack of light and its lack of joy. This work really is that, the horror of shipwreck and it conveys it perfectly. Without being an art critic, which I am not, this painting is vertical where the nearby blue that borders our air is passing to a blue so dark that it seems almost black. This sensation is close to death and once the threshold is crossed, there is the white that tells us that everything is already lost and you are on your way to who knows where. This border is the frame of the painting, it is its corset that pigeonholes it in an oppressive narrowness that more than anything is a sensation that one must suffer when one is surrounded by the murderous liquid that swallows you up until you become part of its watery world. As I said before, it is a dark, introspective painting. It may even be the situation in which the soul of the author, Jordi Teixidor, finds himself at a given moment. Unlike Valencian painters such as Sorolla, light does not exist; it lives below it, in semi-darkness, on the dark side of the hubbub and bustle of the beaches and streets of the impressive Valencia. It is the other part that we have never been told about but that exists and that we visit throughout our lives because there is no other choice, otherwise we would not be as we are, human.

Extremely abstract landscapes of intense colours and seemingly infinite horizons. Landscapes that resemble the aftermath of a nuclear catastrophe and the reality that this human disaster leaves us with.

That right now, in that depth where solitude is oppressive as well as reassuring (and therefore terrifying) and where one can lose the reference of space and time is in reality a journey to ourselves, a one-way journey, or a one-way journey with a difficult return, since once submerged where the colour explodes I do not think I would have the need to return to the harsh reality that subjugates us.

I am in that painting, anywhere, everywhere.
