I have no words for this great work by Miró at the airport in the wonderful Barcelona. A mural like the one at the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos in Madrid, almost in disuse today. The difference with the one in Barcelona is that this one is at street level and can be observed in all its splendor from a privileged position.

I can confess to you that this artist is one of those I like the most in the world. His colors, his non-geometric forms, that is to say that he breaks the boundaries of geometry and its almost tyrannical imposition, and his forms which I observe while I drool, make me feel like I am in the cosmos itself, feeling as tiny as an ant in front of an elephant. I often think about what these creators must have in mind to generate so much beauty or a beauty that almost escapes from our hands. I am not very envious but I recognize that I feel this sensation of them.

Barcelona is one of the great architectural and cultural centres of this country called Spain.

Here is one of the wonders of modernism, specifically one of the stained glass windows of the Casa Amatller built by the architect Josep Puig i Cadafalch.

Modernism is that artistic movement that runs between the 19th and 20th centuries and that meant a reset to everything that came before. Barcelona is the great architectural receptacle of it and as my wife always says, the Catalans are the smartest.

That stained glass window tells me everything; a geometric and hypnotic beauty breaks up the intense light of the Mediterranean, leaving anyone who stops for a few seconds in front of it absorbed. This must be the same way that any of us could have a Marian apparition. Its glass is a bath of amazing colour and could be considered one of those current therapies that are so popular, and that could go from a persistent rheumatism to an evil eye.

In short, Barcelona, no matter who it may be, is the cradle of art and before it I surrender my armies.

I was willing to make this blog about the most daring, most groundbreaking, most current arts, but most of the time I have to stop at works of art from other centuries because there are paintings, like this one, that need to be published for the knowledge of the people, and when I say people I do not mean people without knowledge or backward in their forms and aspects (for which I feel tremendous respect and admiration) but people with power, with popular power.

What can I say about this painting and this woman, I can only refer to the exact moment where the artist reflects on his canvas this second in the life of a young woman. Ramón Casas has captured her soul, surely trapped by jealousy that reveals that look where, like the Mona Lisa, we are not able to discern if she is smiling or serious, or if she is suffering or happy. And it does not make any difference to us, nor does it make any difference to us; because the evil author makes us part of that duality (almost all art is dual as I like to call it, quantum) joyful/suffering of our protagonist.

I can only tell you that I love this painting although I might doubt at a certain moment if I would put it on my wall of works of art since this is not only how well and how beautiful it is or how it is made but also what it makes us feel and how it subjugates our senses or not.

#PINTURA - TURISMO DE ESPAÑA DE MIRÓ / TOURISM OF SPAIN BY MIRÓ

Someone once said that modern art draws from the sources of children, isolated tribes and the mentally ill, and seeing the great Miró it seems that it does.

A genius like him was commissioned at the time by the administration to make a poster to promote Spain for tourism. Today that work of art is forgotten who knows where, and this, ladies and gentlemen, should be a crime.

This work is very simple; an imposingly red Sun that coincidentally coincides with the images that meteorologists show us on television, surrounded by a black circle that in turn is semi-surrounded by a yellow brushstroke, crowning all of this in a figurative black star. Then the word Spain written we could say that by a child. In all of this yellow, black and green appear on a white background. The meaning is what I had talked about before, a Sun surrounded by a night with a star, there is nothing more representative of ours. Or we are looking at the representation of an eye giving us the clear message that we have to come and see Spain since we must not forget that the campaign is designed for potential international tourists.

I find this work by Miró wonderful and it conveys to me precisely everything I have talked about, and it does so to such an extent that it comforts me.

Catalonia is an inexhaustible source of creators, let us not forget.
