#PINTURA - Silencio azul por Diego Vallejo + #PAINTING - Blue Silence by Diego Vallejo + #PEINTURE - Silence bleu par Diego Vallejo + #

This work is rooted in realism, yet not as a mere exercise in mimesis—the representation of nature or human action—but as a generational portrait. Although I do not belong to the timeline it portrays, it is impossible not to recognize the social function that we all, at some point, end up assuming.

Personally, I would venture to call it "phantasmagorical realism." There is something in the diffuse sharpness of the scene that captivates: a youthful everydayness that bursts with unusual force into today’s artistic fabric. Diego Vallejo places us on that porous border where reality and fiction cease to be mutually exclusive. It is a game of hide-and-seek with our perception; a constant pulse where we ask ourselves, almost with anguish, whether we are facing a photograph or a painting.

In this "infernal game," the author uses blur and vibrant saturation to manipulate our subjectivity. Are we looking at a contemporary trompe-l'œil? Undoubtedly. It is not a film still, yet it possesses that same narrative weight: it takes a fragment of normality and elevates it to the status of pure art, leaving us with the sensation of an unfinished frame, a memory on pause.

Taking my reflections to bolder ground, I perceive in his work a veiled homage to Velázquez. With an almost malevolent bravery, Vallejo translates the essence of the Sevillian master into the 21st century. Much like in The Surrender of Breda, the author dares to do the most difficult thing: to paint the atmosphere. He desacralizes the classic canon to remind us that air and light remain the true protagonists of our gaze.

#PINTURA - Jaleo por John Singer Sargent + #PAINTING - El Jaleo by John Singer Sargent + #PEINTURE - El Jaleo par John Singer Sargent + #绘画 - 《埃尔·哈莱奥》(El Jaleo),作者:约翰·辛格·萨金特

Although my devotion usually leans toward contemporary art—with its conceptual reflections and capacity for provocation—today I surrender to a true jewel of 19th-century realism: the mastery of John Singer Sargent. They say flamenco is a spell, and after observing this work, it is impossible to deny it. In this canvas, the painter does not merely portray a scene; he captures the erotic pulse and the mysticism emanating from this art with an almost mystical sensitivity.

One cannot help but be suspended before that play of light and shadow. Sargent introduces chiaroscuro with exceptional skill, creating an almost spectral atmosphere where the darkness seems to take on a life of its own. The color palette is restrained, austere, yet deeply strategic: a flash of red in a corner and, suddenly, that skirt. A vibrant, almost incandescent white that seizes the viewer's gaze and becomes the epicenter of a visual earthquake that eclipses everything else.

In the background, as necessary witnesses to this ritual, the guitarists strive to mark the beat. They remain in the background, almost merging with the tavern's darkness, yet their presence is vital to sustaining the painting's tension. However, the spotlight is relentless, guiding us inevitably toward the bailaora. Sargent uses a thicker, freer, and bolder brushstroke here to bestow a vibrant sense of movement upon the scene; one can almost hear the rustle of silk and the sharp strike of the heel against the floor.

The work possesses a dual beauty: it screams at us with its strength while simultaneously whispering in our ear. Is it a copla or a seguiriya? The author leaves that answer to our own imagination, keeping us hypnotized by the movements of a dance that constantly drifts through the sensual. On the whitewashed wall, guitars hang like votive offerings, while the projected shadows of the musicians act as a "second dancer," an accompaniment that seems to come from beyond. It is a perfect duality between the tangible and the dreamlike where, in that magical projection, time stands still; in the realm of dreams, rhythm is the only survivor.

Personally, this work holds me captive. As someone who loves flamenco, I feel the painting absorbs me, inviting me to occupy that empty chair in the frame. That chair belongs to us, the observers; it is there, ready for us to take a seat and immerse ourselves completely in the heart of the scene, ceasing to be mere spectators to become part of the duende.

Personnellement, cette œuvre me captive.

#PINTURA - CERCA DEL COSMOS. VUELO AL AMANECER DE STANISLAV TORLOPOV / #PAINTING - NEAR THE COSMOS. FLIGHT AT DAWN BY STANISLAV TORLOPOV

This painting by Torlopov seems wonderful to me given the flight conditions he has reflected in this work. The observer, he and we, are on that border that defines our visible sky and the cosmos. It must be a difficult feeling to understand since at that moment one belongs to two worlds; one, the earthly one, in which we develop our lives and to which the force of gravity forces us to be by force, and the other, space, where gravity loses its meaning, becoming an opposing force, which frees us from our earthly ties and makes us enter fully into a world of peace.

We can navigate through the world of dreams, of wandering spirits and through an amalgam of gods of history that are in our emotional sky and that, given the loneliness and isolation, intersect in that game of inevitable and often contradictory feelings.

I like the color used, almost dark, highlighting the atmosphere of the background that breaks up the light and offers us colors that are pleasing to our eyes as the only luxury of that cosmological darkness. The observer who has left those newspapers open on the table denotes absence. He is absent, he has left us the gift of seeing beyond the window to us, becoming a dual issue only between the painter and us observers.

This work makes me travel without being there.

#PINTURA - CHICA MIRANDO AL MAR DE PETER SEMINCK / #PAINTING - GIRL LOOKING AT THE SEA BY PETER SEMINCK

I actually made up the title, but there is nothing more beautiful than a girl looking at the sea, a calm sea, she alone, remembering or dreaming about anything that she finds pleasant or not, or it could be an early nostalgia despite her young age. It could be this or it could be as many interpretations as each one of us has the capacity to analyze everything.

What it does seem to be is a realistic painting, without any daydreaming or only those that this quiet, observant girl has. She does not sit on the chair next to her because she needs to be leaning on the edge of the window since she is going to be observing for a long time that natural miracle or that hypnotic pole that is the sea. We all need at some point in our lives to look at the sea, to feel its breeze, its aroma, its saltpeter on our skin and above all its iridescent reflections on our retinas. It is a kind of catalepsy that we experience that creates addiction, leaving us spellbound at the whim of its tireless and incessant waves, day and night.

This painting is like having a new window in our wall of illustrious works where, if one looks closely, one can even feel a breeze that caresses our face like a sweet lover.

70 - #FOTOGRAFÍA - AGARRA EL VASO Y NO LO SUELTES POR DOSMILCIEN / #PHOTOGRAPHY - GRAB THE GLASS AND DON'T LET IT GO FOR DOSMILCIEN

The greatest thing in life is when you share your moments with the people you love, with the people you freely choose and leave behind all the social toxicity that exists today.

This glass is the exact moment after a toast, a toast that can be for any reason or just because, just like that. And this is exactly what I want to convey to you from this white photograph and without ulterior motives or even conceptual, that is why it is white because it is what is seen free of dust and straw. It is current realism, far from filters and modernity.
