Todo se va a arreglar; siempre se arreglaba. Allí estaban ellos, listos para contener el mundo o para frenar cualquier impacto que amenazara nuestro equilibrio. Al final, la vida parece medirse en la cantidad de golpes que recibimos, esos que nos van insensibilizando al dolor. No hay otra alternativa. Sin embargo, durante la infancia, esos golpes los reciben otros: auténticos escudos protectores que custodian nuestra inocencia, esa que define la etapa más pura, libre y creativa de la existencia.

Con el tiempo, los roles se invierten. Nos convertimos nosotros en el escudo, en los guardianes que contienen los impactos, encajando cada golpe con mayor o menor fortuna. Así es el lienzo de la vida: un juego constante de luces y sombras, de alegrías y penas. Como cantaba Leño: «para las alegrías y mis penas, esta canción escribí». Un hermoso eco nostálgico que hoy resuena con fuerza, recordándonos que somos, precisamente, el resultado de todo aquello que nos dolió y nos protegió.

Everything is going to work out; it always did. They were there, ready to hold back the world or to cushion any impact that threatened our balance. In the end, life seems to be measured by the number of blows we receive, those that gradually numb us to pain. There is no other alternative. However, during childhood, those blows are taken by others: true protective shields that guard our innocence, the very one that defines the purest, freest, and most creative stage of existence.

With time, the roles are reversed. We become the shield, the guardians who contain the impacts, absorbing each blow with greater or lesser fortune. Such is the canvas of life: a constant play of lights and shadows, of joys and sorrows. As Leño used to sing: “for my joys and my sorrows, this song I wrote.” A beautiful nostalgic echo that resonates strongly today, reminding us that we are, precisely, the result of everything that hurt us and everything that protected us.
