Mi intención con este pequeño homenaje a Juan Sebastián Bach, gigante de la música, no es establecer una correspondencia visual directa entre la partitura de su Tocata y Fuga en Re menor BWV 565 y esta imagen. Más bien, busco una similitud conceptual con el órgano de colores y la música básica que facilitaba la comunicación con otras inteligencias en la película Encuentros en la tercera fase. Quiero explorar esa conexión entre la genialidad de Bach y la música del encuentro alienígena, pues imagino que ambas podrían evocar la fuerza radiante de un sol proyectado sobre una cortina, similar a la que ustedes observan.
Esta reflexión navega entre la metafísica y sus eternas preguntas sobre la existencia, como la definición del Ser, y la realidad palpable que experimentamos, la cual se procesa en nuestro interior de forma análoga a la corriente alterna y el incesante juego de la polaridad. Aquí tenemos un ejemplo concreto: el sol entrando por la ventana y su reflejo en esa cortina casi transparente, un tránsito de lo físico a lo metafísico que se asemeja al poder de la música en general, y de la de Bach en particular, para trascender su forma física, la partitura, y alcanzar una dimensión casi espiritual cuando esas notas salen de los instrumentos.
My intention with this small tribute to Johann Sebastian Bach, a giant of music, is not to establish a direct visual correspondence between the score of his Toccata and Fugue in D minor BWV 565 and this image. Rather, I seek a conceptual similarity with the color organ and the basic music that facilitated communication with other intelligences in the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind. I want to explore that connection between Bach's genius and the music of the alien encounter, as I imagine both could evoke the radiant power of a sun projected onto a curtain, similar to the one you are observing.
This reflection navigates between metaphysics and its eternal questions about existence, such as the definition of Being, and the palpable reality we experience, which is processed within us in a way analogous to alternating current and the incessant play of polarity. Here we have a concrete example: the sun entering through the window and its reflection on that almost transparent curtain, a transition from the physical to the metaphysical that resembles the power of music in general, and Bach's in particular, to transcend its physical form, the score, and reach an almost spiritual dimension when those notes emerge from the instruments.
